Rodent Control in Glen Park
Glen Park is a residential neighborhood south of Twin Peaks, next to Glen Canyon Park. It's mostly one- and two-family homes, with a small commercial area called the Village around Chenery and Diamond streets. Islais Creek still runs above ground through Glen Canyon, one of only two creeks in the city that do, before it goes into a culvert near the rec center.
A canyon full of trees and a creek next to a neighborhood of houses means rodents live very close by.
Homes Along the Canyon
Houses near the canyon edge and on the hills around it, like Gold Mine Hill and Billy Goat Hill, back onto brush and trees. Roof rats and Norway rats both do well in that kind of cover. Thin the plants near the house, pull vines off fences and walls and keep firewood and lumber off the ground.
- Brush and trees right behind the fence
- Firewood stacked against the house
- Vines on fences and walls
The Village
The small shops and restaurants at Chenery and Diamond deal with the same issues as any food business. A commercial program with regular checks keeps it under control.

Questions We Get
Can I keep a compost bin near the canyon?
Yes, but use a closed bin with a tight lid and keep it away from the house. Open compost feeds rats.
