Rodent Control in the Richmond District

The Richmond was rolling sand dunes, part of what the city called the Outside Lands, until it grew into a streetcar suburb in the late 1800s. Building picked up after the 1906 earthquake to replace lost housing. Golden Gate Park runs along the south side, Ocean Beach is the west edge, and the Presidio, Lincoln Park and Mountain Lake Park sit to the north.

All that park land and greenery along the edges is home to rodents, and the houses next to it are the closest shelter.

Homes along Fulton Street facing Golden Gate Park, or near the Presidio and Lincoln Park, have a lot of trees and shrubs nearby. Roof rats live in that kind of cover. Check for vines on the house, branches near the roof and gaps at the attic vents.

Clement and Geary

The Inner Richmond's hub at Geary and Clement is known for Chinese, Thai, Korean, Burmese and Russian food. Restaurants and markets along Clement Street and Geary Boulevard need regular commercial service. If you live in a flat above or behind one, keep your own building sealed.
