Rodent Inspection in San Francisco
The health department puts it simply: rodents are secretive and active at night, so confirming an infestation takes a closer look than a single sighting. An inspection answers what it is, where it's living and how it gets in. The price and plan for everything after that come from those answers.
We don't do inspections. We connect you with an independent, licensed company, and they schedule it and set any fee. Ask about that when you're connected.
What Gets Checked
Outside: the base of the building, foundation vents, the garage door, utility entries, the backyard fence line, any ivy or dense plants, the roofline and the rear stairs or deck. Inside: the garage, basement or crawl space, behind the kitchen appliances, under sinks and any attic access. In a multi-unit building, common areas like the trash room and laundry too.
- Droppings near food, pet dishes and along walls
- Gnaw marks on doors, bins, fruit and nuts
- Burrows under garbage cans, compost and along foundations
- Nests in woodpiles, garages and storage
Integrated Pest Management
The health department recommends pest services licensed by the San Francisco County Agricultural Commissioner that use Integrated Pest Management. In plain terms, it means fixing the conditions that let rodents in and keep them fed. A good inspection report lists entry points, food and water sources and hiding spots along with trap locations.
Before You Buy or Rent
People call before signing a lease or closing on a house, too. A general home inspector may mention droppings but won't always say whether rodents are still active or how they get in. If you find old droppings in the garage or crawl space, it's worth a look. After that, sealing and cleanup are the usual next steps.
Questions We Get
